Summer Activity Coordinator
Big Brothers Big Sisters KLH is a youth serving agency that focuses on providing programs for those age 6 to 16. We facilitate mentoring relationships in the community and local schools. Responsible to the Program Manager for all functions in relation to summer camp activities. 35 hours a week, some evenings and weekends, 8 weeks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with team to plan, organize and facilitate day camp programs with youth across Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton
- Collaborate with program manager on camp management
- Assist Program manager with case management duties i.e. completing case notes, help facilitate client communications, assist with client intakes, maintain client files, etc.
- Perform daily administrative tasks as needed Student will be responsible for other local initiatives that arise throughout the summer
- Works cooperatively with program manager, executive director, and the Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Qualifies for the Canada Summer Jobs Program through Service Canada
- Pursuing an education in Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure, Social Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Services, Education
- Demonstrates high level verbal and written communication skills
- Embodies, promotes, and models professional and ethical behaviour
- Demonstrates initiative to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must possess reliable transportation.
- Must be prepared to work some evenings and weekends if needed
- Must be able to provide a police check, be over the age of 18 years, and complete screening with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton
Community Engagement Coordinator Assistant
Big Brothers Big Sisters KLH is a youth serving agency that focuses on providing programs for those age 6 to 16. We facilitate mentoring relationships in the community and local schools. Responsible to the Community Engagement Coordinator for functions in relation to marketing, social media, and fundraising events. 8 weeks, 35 hours a week, some evenings and weekends may be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Work in conjunction with the Community Engagement Co-ordinator on fundraising projects in both Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County. Including develop of marketing, social media campaigns, promotion, and implementation of event/activity.
- Create and assist with social media marketing across several platforms.
- Create and assist with marketing materials related to fundraising and program promotion.
- Assist Community Engagement Coordinatorwith day to day tasks
- Perform daily administrative tasks as needed
- Student will be responsible for other local initiatives that arise throughout the summer
- Works cooperatively with case manager, executive director, and the Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Program Development Specialist
Big Brothers Big Sisters KLH is a youth serving agency that focuses on providing programs for those age 6 to 16. We facilitate mentoring relationships in the community and local schools. As our Program Development Specialist you will review, update, pilot and evaluate 4 group programs. Responsible to the Program Manager.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review current group programs and make needed updates to information and delivery.
- Pilot the group programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Networking with Board of Education representatives and other related agencies in the community to create an awareness of the goals and objectives of Big Brothers and Big Sisters
- Maintain proper documentation in accordance with national standards
- Manage a small case load ensuring that match monitoring and evaluation systems are in place and including statistics of previous and on-going matches
- Refer families to other agencies and/or programs as appropriate and necessary
- Deliver Project Ignite and Developmental Relationship training to appropriate parties in accordance with Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada standards with particular attention to protocol for reporting abuse incidents
- Work cooperatively with other staff, and the Board of Directors to meet the agency objectives.
- Support the development of new initiatives and the enhancement of existing programs and marketing of Matching programs to business/industry and the community at large
- Other fundraising, case/program management duties as assigned and/or for decided by organizational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Social Service Worker diploma and/or other suitable formal education in the human services field
- A minimum of two years related experience
- Knowledge of community agencies and resources
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively maintain and service a reasonable caseload
- Demonstrated interviewing experience, facilitation and mediation skills with groups of children/youth
- Must be prepared to work some evenings and participate in some weekend activities
- Must provide police check clearance
- Must have a reliable vehicle, possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and be willing to travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County
